FAQS

Sessions are Conducted Via HIPAA Compliant Secured Telehealth Video and EHR Software

PAYMENT:     Forms of payment accepted are cash, check, and most major credit cards.  I utilize a practice management software that allows for the secure storage of your payment information and auto-billing.  Payment is due prior to the commencement of each session.

CANCELLATION POLICY:     When you schedule a session, that time is reserved solely for you.  For this reason, I require 24 hours notice of cancellation or you will be charged the full fee for the session.

INSURANCE:     I am not an in-network provider for any insurance panels and therefore all professional services are rendered and charged directly to you.  I am happy to provide you with a monthly statement of services (Superbill), which can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement if you so choose.  It is, however, your responsibility to verify the specifics of your coverage.  Many therapy clients are unaware of the many factors that must be taken into account regarding insurance panel credentialing.  Private pay ensures full confidentiality, more time and resources to allocate directly to the clients individual and specific needs vs. claim submission and administrative follow-up, and greater.  There are a few reasons for this practice but most important is confidentiality and what I call the practice of not labeling.  Once you have been given a diagnosis (which you must in order to bill insurance) it will be a part of your record and can affect your future.  It is your therapist’s preference to keep your sessions confidential and not attach a label to you that may show up later in life.  You may ask for a Superbill at the end of each month that can be submitted to insurance for possible reimbursement.  The Superbill will be required to include a diagnosis, which we can discuss together and figure out if that is the best option for your treatment outcome.

I recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:  Does my health insurance plan include out-of-network mental health benefits?  Do I have a deductible?  If so, what is it and have I met it yet?  Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have?  If so, what is the limit?  Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?
